How do I Legally change my name in the State of Texas to add a Middle Name.?
I’m an A-dult. . . wanting to add a Middle name to my name. (My parents really didn’t put any consideration into my name, they just panic’d and named me after my Dad when asked what the child’s name was.) Since I don’t have a middle name, I want to atleast add one. . .
In the State of Texas, city of Austin. . . what is the procedure to have a legal name change, I don’t want to pay extra for a lawyer, I just want step by step instructions, and where it is I start, and what I should watch out for during the procedure.
The Added Middle name, “Sebastian”. Plz Help
I’m excited!
Go to the Travis County Courthouse and pick up the forms you need…”Original petition for change of name of adult”, and “Order granting change of name of adult”, both available at the Law Library at the courthouse. Complete the forms and sign the petition in front of a notary. Get your fingerprints done at the Sheriff’s office. File the notarized petition with the fingerprint card at the District Clerk’s Office with the fee ($200). Then you have to attend court and have the judge sign the order changing your name.
